Asset unique identifier guide

myAssetLookup seeks to ensure that the correct asset identifier information is entered when adding an asset, as this will help ensure that your asset is properly matched. To help members get the asset identifier right, we have provided information to guide towards getting the primary and the secondary right.

Primary Unique Identifier
IMEI Number
  • The International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI is a number, usually unique, to identify a mobile phone
  • The IMEI consist of 15 digits (numeric only) number
  • You can get your IMEI number displayed on phone screen by entering the universal code: Dial *#06# on the phone's dial pad, the IMEI number will appear, copy it or enter it in myAssetLookup.
  • It can be found printed inside the sim tray or battery compartment of the phone. Power down your phone, remove the phone back cover, and then gently remove the battery. You will find the IMEI number printed on a sticker underneath the battery.
  • Check the original package of the phone, look out for any writing or label with IMEI on it, you will find the 15 digit IMEI number close by.
  • For some iPhone models the IMEI number is engraved at on the back of the phone of the device towards the bottom.
  • From the Android settings menu, search and tap on 'About Phone', scroll down and look for IMEI, and copy and enter the number in myAssetLookup.
  • No spaces allowed in between. Must be 15 digits number.

Secondary (other) identifier
Serial Number
  • Serial number is a unique identifier for phones. It is expected to be unique irrespective of manufacturer, make or model.
  • It can be found printed inside the sim tray or battery compartment of the phone
  • You can find the serial number on the original packaging
  • You can find it on the product sticker
  • You can find it in help or support section of the setting menu
  • No spaces allowed in between. Minimum of 6 characters/digits is required.
